When spring rolls around it’s time to think about cleaning your windows. Window cleaning can be frustrating and achieving a streak-free clean on the first attempt is incredibly difficult. Here are the top 5 do’s and don’ts when cleaning your windows.
Do’s
- A good way to achieve a streak-free clean is by using a soft microfiber cloth to wipe off any excess water from the window.
- Wash, rinse and dry your window one section at a time. If you wash the whole window at once the soap in the last section will dry before you can get to it. Focus on finishing one manageable section at a time.
- Look at the window from a different angle. This will enable you to see if there are any streaks and smudges left.
- Wash the window frames when washing your windows. Maintaining your windows also means maintaining your window frames.
- Dust before you start washing your windows. Dusting your windows, blinds, and sunscreens will ensure that your window stays cleaner for longer.
Don’ts
- Don’t use scrapers all the time. Only use a scraper when the window presents marks and stains that aren’t easily removed.
- Refrain from using towels as they leave particles behind. This can leave your window looking dirty.
- Don’t clean your windows on a hot and sunny day. The sun will dry your window quickly and you will end up with streaks before you can get to rinse the window.
- Too much soap will attract dust and leave your window looking dirty again.
Don’t use harsh chemicals on your windows. Abrasive detergents can scratch the glass.
